It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of club legend Lindsay Murphy.
"The Committee, players and Members, both past and present, of the Parkside Football Club Club are deeply saddened by the passing of club Legend, Lindsay Murphy.
We have lost an all-time great, a man who did it all and whose legacy will last for many generations to come.
Lindsay is a Parkside Life Member; he was the Club President in 1986 and 1987, member of Parkside committee, Captain and Coach from 1965 to 1969, Parkside Best and fairest in 1965 and Premiership Coach and Captain in 1967.
For fifteen years Murphy coached and an array of Parkside Football Club junior teams, from the under 11’s to 17’s, passing on his extensive knowledge of the game and earning two premierships as coach for under 13’s and 15’s in the process.
Lindsay was appointed coach of the FDFL Under 17 Representative team in 1984, the same year when he was awarded the FDFL Life Membership.
Lindsay Murphy was two-time premiership player, life member and lifelong supporter of the Williamstown Football Club. Lindsay played 125 games for the Seagulls and scoring 146 goals.
It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to an incredible man, a beautiful soul, a wonderful former mentor who once said that, “Through the beauty of sport, I’ve seen the good kids help out the bad ones and keep them on the straight and narrow which is really pleasing to see,”
We were honoured to have known him, forever grateful for what he gave our great club and inspired by everything he taught us all.
Our deepest condolences and love is extended to his wife Beryl and the whole Murphy family at this very sad time.
Date and time of funeral services will be announced at a later date."
